Ditch the divine
Who cares most?
When religion is very important for the bride, but not as important for the boyfriend (or girlfriend # 2 or a family or vice versa, you get the point) may be worth planning a wedding ceremony on the basis of traditions that people of faith. There is only so much you can do to buy dresses ensure that the family no one is offended, but would not be good for the deeply religious member of the couple have to marry without God. I'm not entirely sure, but it feels like I would be less painful for an atheist committed to participating in a religious Wholesale ceremony for a committed Christian to have to have a humanist ceremony. I could be wrong, however. Edit: And I was, as pointed out to me. For many, atheism is as much of a fundamental belief of faith in a deity.
Ditch the divine (for now)
On the other hand, if no one directly involved care much, but the family that is causing the problem, since they are pushing for every wedding ceremony that reflects your faith, you could go neutral. Humanist officiants are ministers and nondenominational, who will be happy to prepare a non-religious (but still quite spiritual), a ceremony that will not offend anyone ..cheap & wholesale wedding dresses. or make a family feel like standing in behalf of the other.
